Amazon - Prime Air (Drone Delivery)

Drone Systems Integrator / Systems Test Engineer: (11/2021 - Present)

Leading Prime Air's Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation Test Labs testing experimental, multi-fleet, drone delivery vehicles. Leveraging a HIL-as-a-Service model, we conduct thousands of hours of on-target testing every week, generating petabytes of actionable data, to support embedded development, and global regulatory compliance.

  • Own and manage the entire design/build/maintain lifecycle for dedicated, high-throughput, test systems for integrated vehicle testing.

  • Manage on-prem EC2 network/facility infrastructure, test operations, avionics subsystem integration, and platform availability/resiliency. Automate test bench operations with custom hardware and software tools.

  • Influence design of avionics hardware, subsystems, test strategy, and orchestration services.


Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center (WATR)

Instructor – Mechatronics and Automation: (03/2021 - 11/2021)

Research and development of industrial CNC lasers, small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), and CNC subtractive tools for manufacturing and rapid prototyping.  

  • Designed curriculum for CNC diode/CO2 gas laser technologies, motion control, drive mechanics, CAD/CAM processes, simulation, toolpath generation, and finishing operations.

  • Developed part models in Fusion 360 for additive/subtractive manufacturing operations.


Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E)

Software Engineer – Business Operations & Tools: (03/2020 - 11/2020)

Developed business intelligence/analysis tool suite used by program managers, engineers, and senior leaders. Maintained $1.8B/year labor actuals, supporting 3600+ projects. Automated data entry, and visual analytics dashboards. Developed product roadmaps, defined Microsoft SQL, and PowerBI workflows.

MBSE Simulation Team – “New Commercial Vehicle”: (02/2019 - 03/2020)

Performed simulation software integration, coordination, and training; developed course curriculums to drive enterprise adoption of model-based systems engineering and simulation tooling. Drove adoption of MBSE across new commercial vehicle development program (1500+ engineers). Accelerated development of simulation models, testing, traceability, and vehicle V&V strategy.

Lead Instructor – Enterprise Learn to Fly a Drone (2/2018 – 11/2020)

Developed curriculum for unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) flight characteristics, performance, maintenance, regulations, and safe operations. Led flight demonstrations, testing, and training activities. Managed 30+ drone vehicle inventory, trained instructors, and scheduled courses/events based on local demand.

Software Engineer – Flight Simulation Software Labs: (09/2016 - 02/2019)

Developed full-stack Java solutions for a proprietary simulation development environment, leveraged rigorous process, and quality, standards throughout development lifecycle.

  • Led UX design, executed research, conceptual design, wireframing, and implementation. Conducted usability research including user interviews, testing, results analysis, and management report out.

  • Designed multi-threaded task manager to arbitrate sub-system model build, compilation, and runtime dependency analysis.

Real Time Software Engineer – Flight Simulation I/O Systems Lab: (01/2015 - 09/2016)

Performed software integration, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of VME/VXI IO backplanes deployed to 130+ avionics test benches and full-scale HIL flight simulators.

  • C/C++ software integration, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of embedded device firmware.

  • Designed single-board computer test pipelines using automated loopback testing. Executed regression testing and continuous integration (CI) of firmware releases for PowerPC and x86 targets.

Systems Integrator, Test Conductor – Lighting and Camera Test Labs: (05/2012 - 01/2015)

Designed and built a research test lab to test aerial refueling operations in all lighting conditions. Conducted test operations for exterior lighting and remote camera systems test campaigns, built specialized test equipment, automated test hardware and measurement capture, managed test crew logistics, test safety, and test equipment calibration.

  • Developed fully automated hardware lighting grid networks, tools, custom lighting systems, and wrote processes to conduct safe, and repeatable, test measurement.

  • Optimized test activities by 74% by automating optical test measurements and data analysis.

Test & Evaluation Engineer – Flight Test Instrumentation and Data Systems: (11/2009 - 05/2012)

Provided technical support of flight test data acquisition systems (ADAMS V) on deployment with 15+ experimental type cert aircraft, for 747-8, and 787 aircraft. Developed video streaming app in Linux using ffmpeg and C for real-time remote viewing of distributed camera sensors.
